Scaling a surface has two main effects: Affecting its apparent size (which determines mass), and affecting its joint strength (which is determined by its mass).Additionally, they have dynamic mass, which is determined by their unscaled size. Build surfaces are unique, as their size and shape is dictated by the placement of their nodes rather than their scale. This is utilised for several Toring variants, which rely on twisting block joints.Scaling a block thin on an axis makes its connections less rigid along that axis. For this reason it is common to build machines facing left-to-right.Usually the connection order is right-to-left (facing 'forward' in campaign levels), and then to the first block placed.
